Our Story
The story behind Karibu and the search for the perfect stylist
From Search to Solution
Living in a country where most people around you don’t share your hair type can make something simple feel complicated. Finding the right stylist isn’t something you can just look up. Not when your hair requires specific knowledge, skill and care.
As we grew older and began doing our own hair, the search didn’t disappear. It just changed. It became word of mouth. A friend of a friend. A cousin’s recommendation. A name written down somewhere, hoping it would work out.
And every time life moved, to a new city, a new environment, the process started all over again. Looking for someone skilled. Someone affordable. Someone you could trust.
Because it’s never just one service. Sometimes you want a simple trim. Another time braids. Maybe a sew-in.
Karibu was created to make that search easier. To connect people with stylists who understand textured hair, and to build a space where care, expertise and community come together.
Because finding the right stylist shouldn’t feel like starting over every time.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make it easier for people to discover salons and stylists who truly know how to care for their hair, while helping beauty professionals grow their visibility and business. Talented Afro hair salons often rely on word-of-mouth and social media alone, while clients struggle to find trusted professionals who truly understand Afro hair. Karibu was created to close that gap, by putting community, culture, and craftsmanship at the center
Karibu
